For the first cookbook, The Sweet Life, I was approached by author Lilliana Battle (ex-Masterchef Australia contestant) to audition to photograph for her cookbook, and to my surprise, I was successful. Working to a tight deadline and with a lot of recipes to photograph, we worked day and night to produce numerous photographs to be published in the book.
In 2018, Insight Editions contacted me to work on another project with Lilliana - The Corleone Family Cookbook, a recipe book which would be inspired by the iconic The Godfather movie trilogy, as well as recipes from Lilliana’s family. Unlike the previous project, this one required hours of research to create a visual style that was as close to the original movies as possible - I learnt a lot about cinematography and the work that went into films during this time! But like the previous project, we worked to a tight deadline (I had my wedding and a overseas work shoot straight after), and worked day and night to photograph all the recipes. The end result was a book that sold out on first release on Amazon, with a second release six months later, and it still continues to be a best-seller.
